Au tout début Dan a sorti un album avec Petru.L'album est sorti en Moldavie et en Roumanie mais Dan voulait être connu dans plus de pays.Mais Petru n'étant pas interressé car pour lui chanté n'était qu'un hobbie.Il a donc laissé tombé Dan.Après cela Dan a décidé d'organiser le grand casting pour recruté les o-zone.L'histoire du groupe a commencé en République de Moldavie, où Dan, Arsenie et Radu ont connu leur premier succès musical. En 2002, ils arrivent en Roumanie avec une maquette et commencent à démarcher les maisons de disques. Ils signent leur premier titre "Numai Tu" chez Sony Roumanie, les radios se ruent littéralement sur le single.
A l'automne 2002, O-Zone prend un nouveau tournant musical et se tourne vers la "Dance music" avec un nouveau single "Despre Tine", toute la Roumanie est contaminée par la "O-Zone mania"...
En 2003, ils sont nominés "Meilleur groupe de dance en Roumanie" avec leur album "Disc'O-Zone"
